VSC/MACV - Continuous Service to Our Veterans Community since 2011
Our first MACV meeting (now the VSC Networking Committee meeting) was on January 18th, 2011, at the American Legion Post 500 in Speedway.  We have met on the 3rd Tuesday of every month since 2011 at various locations.

VSC's Networking Committee Purpose, Mission & Goals

VSC's Networking Committee Purpose:

To build a stronger coalition of service providers in Marion County, through monthly networking meetings, that will better serve and support our Veterans, Military, and their Families by working across organizations lines to coordinate their resources and help solve common Veteran issues.

VSC's Networking Committee Mission:

To Network with, Partner and Support, Marion County Veteran Service Organizations and Service Providers that offer goods, services, programs and benefits to our Veterans, Military, and their Families.

VSC's Networking Committee Goals:

To Better Serve, Inform, and Advise the Mayors' and Town Managers of Marion County on issues that affect Veterans, Military and their Families in our community.

To Better Serve, Inform, and Advise our Marion County Veterans, Military and their Families about goods, services, programs and benefits available to them by helping VSC build a database compiled from all organizations in and around Marion County that are already striving to help our Veterans, Military and their Families.

VSC's Networking Committee is guided by a seven (7) member Executive Committee.
No less than five (5) members of its Executive Committee must be Veterans.
Current Executive Committee Members were re-elected on 16Dec22 to serve thru 15Dec23.
As of the 1st of December 2021 the MACV Logo/Trademark is owned by Veterans Support Council, Inc.

VSC's Monthly Networking Meetings:

Anyone that wants to learn how they can help support our Veterans just needs to show up at one of our VSC Networking meetings.

  • Information Sharing - If anyone wants to share their information on how you and/or your organization can benefit Indiana Veterans, remember to bring from 50 to 60 copies of your brochures, flyers or business cards to distribute or to place on our Information Table located at the entrance to the room.  You can also make a brief presentation (under 2 minutes) during the "Roundtable" period.
  • 1st Time Guests - 1st Time Guests are always welcome to make brief presentations (under 2 minutes) on how their organization benefits Veterans.  If more time is needed they can take it during our "Roundtable" period.
  • Guest Speakers - If a Guest or a VSC Member requires more than 2 minutes for their presentation, they must be approved in advance by VSC's Speakers Coordinator.  Guest Speakers are asked to keep their presentations between 8 to 10 minutes.
  • VSC's Meeting Agenda - The format we use at all VSC meetings. VSC Meeting Agenda.

About VSC's Networking Committee


VSC's Networking Committee Guidelines for Membership:

Requirements for being a VSC Member or a VSC Associate (No fees or dues are ever required):

  • VSC Members: (Voting Members - will be issued name and organizational tags):
    • Must have attended at least six (6) monthly meetings within the last 12 months and be informed on the subject to be voted on;
    • VSC's Networking Executive Committee Members, Chair & CoChair are automatically VAC Members;
    • VSC's Directors and Officers are automatically VSC Members;
    • VSC Steering Committee Members are automatically VSC Members.

  • VSC Associates: (DO NOT Vote):
    • Must attend at least 2 to 3 meetings during any 12-month period to remain a VAC Associate and remain on our active email list.

  • Guests or Visiting Speakers - Individuals or Organizations: (DO NOT Vote).

VSC Networking Members:

  • DO vote on what new projects VSC may or may not want to get involved with.
  • DO vote on who serves on the VSV Research Committees.
  • DO vote on suggestions and recommendations from the VSC Research Committees before they are sent to the Mayors.
  • DO vote on who serves on the VSC Steering Committee.
  • DO vote on suggestions and recommendations from the VSV Steering Committee before they are implemented.
    • The Steering Committee elects a Chairman who will be a VSC Officer.
  • DO vote to recommend VSC Directors once a year.
  • DO NOT vote on the day-to-day operations of VSC; that is, the duties of the VSC's Officers.


VSC Networking Committee Executive Committee Members: (A total of 7, 4 which are VSC Directors):

  • Serve for one year.
  • Review recommendations from VSC Members on potential VSC Advisors.
  • Select future VSC Executive Committee Members.
  • Appoint a VSC Chair & CoChair once a year.
  • Appoint the VSC Coordinators as needed.
  • Appoint the Chair of VSC's Steering Committee

    • Steering Committee
    • Homeless & Faith-Based
    • Health & Wellness
    • Education & Employment
  • Work with VSC on the Event Planning Committee for the Hoosier Heroes Appreciation Day event.

Note: Veterans Support Council, Inc. (VSC) is responsible for all funding and promotions of all VSC's major Projects.

  • New -  dial 988 - By dialing 988 your call will be immediately routed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
    • The current Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) is always available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis, even after 988 is launched nationally.,
  • If you or someone you are helping is hurt or in imminent danger, please get to a phone and dial 9-1-1 for immediate help.
  • If you or someone you know is feeling suicidal or facing a crisis, dial 2-1-1 in Indy or 1-(866) 211-9966 for immediate help.
  • If you are a victim of domestic violence, dial 1-(800) 332-7385 in Indy for help.

For Non-Emergencies:

  • If you are a Veteran, or a family member of a Veteran, in search of information on how to get goods or services you/they may need, you can dial 2-1-1 or contact one of the Service Providers or Veterans Organizations listed on our "Resources" page.
  • Cellphone users in Marion County may now dial 3-1-1 to reach the non-emergency line for IMPD and other Marion County dispatchers. The non-emergency phone number for callers using landlines is (317) 327-3811.

  • VSC is not a provider of any financial assistance or direct services other than Information and Referrals on where to get goods, services, programs, and benefits for Veterans, the Military, and their families.
